The biggest issue that I have with the shredder is its noise. You’d expect a shredder of this price to be quiet, but unfortunately the HSM ativa shredder is extremely loud and can be heard from another room. It’s also very slow and tends to jam up easily when you don’t feed it faster than one sheet per pass.
The waste bin for the shredded papers is way too small – it fills up quickly making it necessary to empty out more often than desired. I also noticed that when it jams, the paper pieces get stuck in a difficult spot on the cutting blades which makes them harder to remove without damaging them.
The only good thing about this product is that if you do manage to feed it correctly (i.e., one sheet at a time) and make sure not to force any material through, then the cutting performance is actually decent (although still not great). But apart from that, there’s nothing good about this product in my opinion and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable document shredding solution.
